Kirby Asunto Started singing when she was about 2 years old. It all started when she joined a singing contest in her school. She went home one day and announced it to her mom, she wondered how she did it as she was still learning how to read. Kirby who was 4 years old then was still at the point of watching Barney and mimicking the songs that was sang in the show. Since then, Kirby joined the singing contest every year and even took Voice Lessons to pursue her dreams of singing.
Kirby migrated the states with her family back in 2006. From there, she still continued to join singing contests. Such as, The Access Broadway where she won and became the Regional and National competition in 2008 & 2009. In 2009, She became the grand champion of Philippine Fiesta Grand Idol singing competition in Secaucus, New Jersey. That began her to be invited to numerous Filipino American Communities in NJ, NY, CT, & DC area.Such as The Philippine Independence Day in New York City.Kirby enjoys doing fundraising concerts to give back to her community, not only here in America but also with her fellow Filipinos in the Philippines as well.
In 2010, She performed at one of the biggest Korean shows in the US, Kollaboration DC, where she started to get known in the DC area. In January of 2011, she won the applause of the crowd in New York Knicks vs. San Antonio Spurs in Madison Square Garden, Manhattan, New York. Her biggest achievement so far was singing the Philippine National Anthem at the PACQUIAO- BRADLEY fight in June 9, 2012 at the MGM grand arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She went home to the Philippines for the first time after 7 years and was guested at 2 of the biggest shows in the Philippine TV industry during Sunday’s; ASAP & Party Pilipinas. She also has done concerts aound the Philippines (Davao, Leyte, Batangas, &Lanao Del Norte) In December 2012, She performed in Malacañang for the TAYO (Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations) in front of The President of the Philippines and Bam Aquino who founded the organization. Recently, She performed at the signing for the National Year of Rice and sang “SapatnaBigas which was written by Noel Cabangon. Kirby also performed and was also a member of the Youth Organization in 2nd Global Summit of Filipinos in the Diaspora. Currently, She is rehearsing for her concert in Antipolo which will be at April 20, 2013. She will also be doing an album somewhere in the future.
Kirby’s wish is she succeeds in singing, she will give back to the community by helping needy people and opening up a Music School for talented kids. Her Dream is not only to become a professional singer, but to also help children also pursue their dreams on singing.
